Boundary Hedge, 15 foot for privacy.

Hi there - just discovered this forum & hope to make good use of it over next while. I am currently completing my new house on a site of about 1.25 acres.
I am going to create a boundary hedge all around, as it sits in a 5 acre field owned by my parents.
I was thinking of Escallonia or Beech - however we are on an incline down from the adjoining road and would like the fornt hedge to grow to about 15 foot for privacy.
Can either of the above grow to these heights - if not what would be the best alternative.(one that grows relatively quickly ).
I live near New Ross, County Wexford - does anyone know good places to buy
these plants?

For a big boundary look out for:

Alder
Sycamore
Beech
Hornbeam

These will all grow to your required height. The Alder is good and fast and does best when cut once per year. The Hornbeam would be better looking however it is slower.

Many garden centres throughout Ireland offer a mail-order service, you should contact them with the length of the area you're planting and they can advise on how many plants you need.

Also consider Cotoneaster frigidus 'Cornubia'. It is semi-evergreen with dark- green leaves. White flowers in summer followed by bright red berries in autumn.

thanks - what height can these grow to? roughly how much per plant are escallonia and beech?

lovely thanks - this is the time of year to be planting? so I`ll check around for garden supply stores.
