hey all im barry im 24 i live in an attached house lucan Co.dublin, this is my second year
gardening, my garden is a medium which was for many years just one
big patch of grass,so i decided to do something with it! it is surrounded by
6ft walls(my neighbours) and my house is east facing

ive always had green fingers but never took it u that seriously just a plant r two here and there,..never had the time,but early last spring i completely dug up half the garden, planted 2 rose bushes along the south facing wall, a small
vegetable garden also south facing, and some climbers along the
west facing wall. and a lovely cherry blossom tree,
and a small alpine plot in a corner to be honest though i kind of let it go over the winter
and after a succesfull veg plot ive left what i havent used to over grow
and the rose bushes are very lanky now,

so if you can help me it would be a great help...
it is now the beginning of feb and the veg garden is over grown, and since
i didnt dig it up in the winter, if i dig it up now and fertilise it now would it be ok
for planting in the first week of march?

and what should i do for my roses?

Barryl make a raised bed or two for your veg. They have so many advantages, one of those being ease of maintenance. An ever growing post on veg gardens (raised beds) can be found here....

thanks alot gpi and sugar_ape those articles were really helpful i think i will go for a raised bed this year.
im digging two new veg plots also both of them the same size as the one in the picture, so i wont make the same mistake of growing too compact,
im planning on planting two more rose bushes this year,any good suggestions?

that rose in the photo is called penny lane,its a climber,i also have galway bay, is there any different techniques
to pruning climbers?
