I would appreciate a little bit of advice on a plant I wish to create a screen with. It's Ulex Europeus 'flore pleno'. Has anyone any experience of it, at what spacing does it get planted at and how quickly does it grow? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the site JRoche.
Ulex Europeus 'flore pleno' also known as gorse or furze planted in a row will form a four foot informal hedge, very informal. Laughing
Its not one of those plants for people who like their plants clipped into neat little shapes. It's best for those of us who like things a bit wild, does this suit you?

For hedging, plant it at 2ft spacings.

Its attributes......

Dense dark green branches.

Severe spines.

Pea sized yellow flowers usually from March to May.

Flowers best in hungry, acidic soils, but will cope with most locations as long as it is well drained and in full sun.

Copes with windy locations.

Further reading...... The scent of the plant is spoken about in this post.... http://www.gardenplansireland.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=171&highlight=gorse
