I am getting the hang of identifying various tree types.
I've noticed the cherry trees coming into blossom in recent
weeks, alders bearing catkins and cones, signs of some
poplars budding into leaf as well as horse chestnuts.
Which deciduous (sheds and renews leaves annually) trees will start to come into leaf in the
coming weeks in Ireland ?

Has someone written an article on the chronology of
tree varieties and the rough order they come into foliage
in spring ?

I know that Ash is one of the later varieties to come into leaf.

Thanks "plogger1, great idea for a new article. Wink
See here... Tree leafing stages, can they forecast weather in Ireland?

Wow - fantastic and informative (even entertaining) article GPI !
I hadn't heard that folklore about oak before ash before !

I've been trying to keep an eye out for willows coming into leaf.
Salix alba don't seem to have come into leaf at all yet but I've
seen some bushy trees which might be Irish willow/Pussy willow ?
which seem to have light green early foliage on them.
