Miniature pine not thriving

Hello,
Last year my mother gave me two potted miniature pines (I think that's what they are). One is thriving, the other is not; it is very brown in parts and hasn't grown at all. After all the rain last summer I discovered its pot was getting waterlogged so put in a couple of drainage holes. I added a new layer of compost a couple of months ago but it still looks miserable next to the other one.
Any advice please?

Sounds like the excess water did the damage alright, but you have that sorted now. Wink

Conifer trees don't take very kindly to being messed around compared to deciduous (sheds and renews leaves annually) trees which have better "bouncebackability".
To try and spark your tree back into life you can water over the tres needles and around the roots with a liquid feed.
Do this once a month from now through until September.

When you go to the garden centre ask for a liquid feed formulated moreso for leaf rather than flower and fruit.

By the way if you want to post up a pic or two of the tree, I should be able to tell you if it is worth your while at all.
