(Sorry Moderator, but I didn't quite know where to ask this question.)
Basically I planted some sunflower seeds for my daughter a while ago on the kitchen window sill and needless to say they have grown and urgently need to be planted out. My problem is this - no room (Yes I know I should have thought of that before ). I have no room for them in the front garden and I have an unrestrained dog in the back (long term plan for the rear garden about to be implimented) so the only real option for me is to plant it in a large planter I made at the front. This planter is about 1.5 - 2 foot square by about 30-40cm deep, so would it be ok to plant say four sunflowers in that container up against a west facing wall with support ? I'am worried more about the root depth and density - do sunflowers eventually have large root systems apart from needing lots of watering ? |

| I reckon you would do well to grow 2 sunflowers to grow ok in that size of a container. |

Cheers,
I just did a search on the site here and I notice that 2 - 3 foot spacing in minimum. I think I'll be giving some away to friends |

| I planted three of them in a large planter last night, and I'll give the other ones away to relatives over the weekend. |
