THE GALWAY Earth Festival seeks to raise funds and public awareness of the local and global environment through music, food, lectures, and craic.
Stalls and activities in the Black Box Theatre, 2pm to 5pm.
The stalls will include local organic food, eco household products, books on sustainable living, organic gardening products, renewable energies, and CDs by the musicians taking part. There will also be a mobile bar at the party. Amnesty International Galway will be having a stall as well the Galway Computer Club.
Talks and lectures in the Rowing Club, Woodquay, from 2pm to 6pm.
Food As Medicine with Carina Harkin at 2.30pm;
Liam SS Reamon on Na Comhluaidir Bheo at 3.15pm;
Noreen Lyons will speak about the work of An Foidin Glas at 4pm;
Damian Doherty of Eco Electrics will give a presentation on micro renewables and grid tie connection at 4.45pm;
At 5.30pm there will be organic wine (Italian, French, and Spanish red and white) tasting with Dirk Flake.
A concert from 5pm to 2am featuring acts from Ireland, Wales, Zambia, Russia, and the USA.
On the acoustic stage outside the Black Box will be Lovely Lucy, roots guitarist Chad Dougie, Estas Tonne, Jack Hammer Purr, and The Urges.
On the main stage inside the theatre will be reggae acts Will Softly, Wiggle, and Intinn. There will also be music from Welsh singer-songwriter Nicola Williams, trad-rock band The Rye, as well as Techbot, Valleum, Bootnic, Autonomous I, Ilya K, Techbot, Celtic Cowbois, Sandyman, and Techbot.
