There's no point going to all this trouble and not getting to show off the garden. So I decided to have a BBQ yesterday Sunday 10th August. Needless to say this involved a bit of planning preparations included:
Purchase of new charcoal BBQ as the last one had rusted away in the rain… I’ll grow an aspidistra plant on the site (aka: Cast Iron plant.. get it?)
Purchase of a gas bbq just in case it raines.
Purchase of Gazebo ,
Purchase of brass (rust proof) screws to screw said Gazebo to reinforced, rainproofed deck just in case it was windy,
Purchase of extra rope to tie said Gazabo down, just in case.
Purchase of new swing seat with extra sturdy canopy (not to be confused with the canapés which will not be served due to their insubstantial makeup and tendency to blow away). More screws and rope just in case.
Purchase of staple gun to fix table cloth, which said tablecloth is needed to hide the fact that the ‘picnic’ table has been used to shelter tender plants from the torrential rain.
And of course there were lots of fleece jackets and rain coats to be given to guests.
A good time was had by all, even If I did have to lock the patio door to stop guests huddling in front of the TV.. Their sudden interest in Olympic synchronised diving did not fool me for a moment: This was a BBQ and would stay a BBQ.
Through the rain and wind the garden looked damp but full of prospects.

Much like that! But those plastic chairs would have been in the Irish Sea if anyone had ventured to stand up! Don't you just love it.. and helpfull hint.
If you ask for plants for your birthday insist they help plant them... Rain and hangover are not great conditions for having a tender, though mature, gardner out in the garden. On such days she is best positioned on a soft sofa with a large coffee. |

| Absolutely glorious here in Wexford today. Hope the rest of the country is enjoying similar weather and drying out a little. |

Infact I did have another BBQ today. It was lovely.. the weather rather than my cooking.
But not much drying so still not getting a lot done in the garden. The Gazebo is now being used to shelter plants from the rain. I'm sure I'll go out one of these mornings and the fish will be at the back door looking for their food. _________________ Discovered gardening while recovering from an illness.
