Frost and Snow Warnings - latest for Ireland.
Issued: 04 December 2008 05:07
Tonight
Strong westerly winds will veer northwest and ease overnight, allowing a sharp ground frost in sheltered places. Lowest temperatures will range 2 to 5 degrees generally, but may fall to zero in parts of the north around dawn.
Friday night will be dry and quite cold, with clear periods, light northwest breezes and widespread sharp ground frost.
Saturday will continue dry with plenty of sunshine likely; despite the sunshine, and just light winds, it will remain rather cold, with frost clearing only slowly in the morning and returning soon after dark. It will remain dry with clear spells on Saturday night; sharp or severe ground frost will occur in many places and patches of freezing fog are possible also.
Sunday will be another mainly dry, though cold, day; more cloud is expected and southwest winds will freshen generally as the day goes on. Frost may return to some southern areas for a time on Sunday night but temperatures will tend to rise generally overnight. Outbreaks of rain developing in the northwest will extend to all parts of the country during the first half of Monday. Clearer conditions will follow later but showers will affect the west and north.
