lengthen Amaryllis flowering time

If I cut the the stamens from the Amaryllis flower will it lengthen the time it flowers? I know that this can work for Lilys.

Hello Marge. Im a new poster to this wonderful site but a long time lurker. I have amaryllis indoors and I find that you can prolong the flowers life by removing pollen stamens from inside the flower with a small sissors or tweezers. Then when the flowers are finished their blooming, i will cut the flower stalk off a few inches above the bulb. Try not remove or damage any leaves while you do this. I hope that was of some help.
