amaryllis seed pod

This year my Amaryllis has produced a seed pod. Does anyone know when is a good time to try sowing them?
Most of the sites I have found are American and it's hard to know if the info applies here, as a lot of American gardeners plant their bulbs in the garden.

I have often heard of people propagating the Amaryllis by bulb offsets, but not by seed. Im sure it is possible though. How much seed do they produce?

The Amaryllis seed heads should be left on the plant until they are dry and rattley. You can sow the seeds indoors so no need to worry about the american info. Barely cover the seeds with a quality seed and potting compost and keep them moist. Keep the seeds in a light filled room at an even temperature. The young plants should flower for you in three to four years.

Some things to be aware of with Amaryllis seed sowing, Marge.
Growing from seed can give an unpredictable flower color.
It will also take about five years for your new Amaryllis to produce flowers.
