I've just recently found this forum and have been spending the last few days 'looking' around and loving what I've seen and decided to register, so a big thankyou for allowing me to join.
There is such a vast amount of info here and extremely beautiful photos of gardens and plants and they are oh so lush.
Gardening here in Australia can be quite difficult at times due to high temperatures and very, very dry weather ....... but I struggle on LOL.
I look forward to 'meeting' fellow members as well as posting questions and comments etc.
I have included a link to my blog......which isn't really a blog as such, more a showcase of some of my garden related photos.... please feel free to take a look and I hope you like what you see.

Lovely photos but lots of scarey spider (huntsman and crab spiders). Glad we dont have any of them here. St Patrick must have driven them all out with the snakes.  |

Hello and welcome annie. Yes we have a few spiders in Ireland, all harmless and good for keeping the fly and midge population down. Do you have to be very careful of your spiders and snakes when out with your roses and perennials? |

hi Tom .... well I've actually only seen two snakes in my garden, both venomous red bellied black snakes, but they are rather timid and fatalities are rare, their venom affects body muscles and can cause paralysis but as I said they are timid creatures and will usually retreat if encountered, as for spiders, my garden is full of them and yes I am careful of them (most of them are harmless anyway) although some of them could inflict a painful bite, but I love having them here, so when I am gardening I try not to disturb their webs.
I do have red back spiders in my shed  ..... they're a bit of a worry as the females are toxic ... but no one in Australia has died from a bite in 40 years as there is an effective antivenom 
I also have a lot of these Eastern Water Skinks in and around my garden,
they only grow to about 30 cm and they feast on slugs and insects so are very useful to have around and they are perfectly harmless.

They wouldn't go hungry over here, lots of slugs, they'd probably be a bit cold though.
